The days of “one size fits all” marriages are a thing of the past. To be sure, a number of couples are still opting for a church wedding; not just a Christian church wedding but in these multi cultural times at a church/place of their Faith.
For couples wanting something different I offer a non religious alternative. My ceremonies can be held at venues of their choosing; reception lounges, halls, parks, the beach, their own home – I have even married a couple in their milking shed!!!
Couples can still have a formal wedding with wedding gowns and suits, brides maids and groomsmen etc followed by a formal wedding breakfast; or they can be much more informal followed by a Barbeque, or a gathering at your club or pub.
I am one of the few Celebrants in New Zealand who is registered by Births Deaths and Marriages to officiate at a REGISTRY STYLE MARRIAGE Ceremony
Registry style ceremonies can be held at venues of the couples choosing; reception lounges, halls, parks, the beach, their own home, my home; I have even married a couple in their Milking shed surrounded by 100 cows and 10 family members.
A Renewal of Vows Ceremony is not a legal ceremony in the sense that a couple are still legally married and what they want is a Ceremony to reaffirm their love for each other.
Therefore; with family and friends gathered together to witness and celebrate the occasion, we put together an informal or semi formal ceremony. Most often a Renewal of Vows Ceremony will coincide with an anniversary date of the initial wedding; or be part of another family event.
Civil Union or same sex marriages are the same thing and today couples can be married regardless of their sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.
